Concerts
I will be Mr. Review from concerts past!!
if you were there.... Let me know!!! :)
Listed in alphabetical order
Def Leppard 1993... I went to this concert with my sister,
Leslie. This was a fantastic concert. Def Leppard really surprised me with how much they
sound just like they do on their albums. The sound system sounded AWESOME in the Miami
Arena. I was particularly impressed with the bass in there... I remember the end of the
song "Gods of War" there is a synthesizer part that made my vision go blurry,
and could notice my shirt moving from the bass waves... This is usually something
only accomplished by standing up front, but we were in the nose-bleeds on the second
level!! Impressive! Two thumbs up!!!!!!!
Eric Clapton 1992... I went to this concert
with my sister, Leslie, and a few of her friends, including Lisa(HOTTTTT!!!), who I had a
crush on at the time!!! :) Eric Clapton was also fantastic. He plays absolutely flawless,
and sounded just like his albums. The only flaw was that his microphone was not very loud,
but his guitar rang through clear as a bell. He makes it all look so easy, firing out
chords and riffs, while he was strolling around the stage! The smell of pot in that crowd,
made everyone stoned, including the Miami police officer which commented on that standing
right next to us! We were on the second level as well for that one. Another two thumbs up,
except for the lights.. they were rather boring!
Jimmy Buffett 1998... I went to this concert
with Randy Dickman, a friend I worked with. This was a good concert, but definitely one of
the most laid back concerts I have ever been to. We were very far from the concert stage,
which made it very hard to see anything. He was very good, and he interacted with the
crowd well. He played all the favorites, and some new ones which I never heard of. All in
all I thought it was good, but, as with most of the Coral Sky Amphetheatre concerts I have
been to, We were too far away, which was a bummer. one thumb up, if I was closer two
thumbs up for sure!
Lollapalooza 1996... Went with Thad Knowles.
What a concert this was!!! 1:30 PM till about midnight... Featured bands included
Metallica, Soundgarden, Rage Against the Machine, The Ramones, Rancid, and Screaming
Trees. I basically went because Metallica was there. This was a fantastic concert, and it
was general admission, which I prefer. But I remember how HOT it was... ugh......... I
don't think I have ever sweat so much.... a sea of bodies creating more body heat that the
95 degree F weather could throw at us... it must have been 120 standing elbow to elbow in
the crowd! I think about 60,000 people were there!! Rage against the Machine were awesome
and so was Soundgarden! But I was waiting for Metallica, they always throw such a great
concert! When they came on, it was dark, and it was alot cooler. From opening song to the
encore song they played awesome, as usual! A Very BIG two thumbs up!
Metallica 1989... This is the VERY first concert
I have ever gone to! I went with Steve Wood, a friend of mine from NH. I was very nervous
to go to this concert. I was at my brother Mark's house in Manchester with his g/f Ellen,
and I remember him coming home and saying the people standing in line outside the concert
were throwing things at cars! Being my first concert, this made me nervous, and made Steve
nervous too, which, in turn, made me even MORE nervous!!! LOL The Cult opened for them,
and were basically boo'ed off the stage by people chanting M-E-T-A-L-L-I-C-A... I thought
they were pretty good, but the majority did not... They played for about 45 mins and gave
up! When the lights came on and Metallica came out Steve and I were in the front, but then
this huge rush (which I've grown to LOVE!!!) pushed forward smashing us against the front
rails. So we moved to the side, where we were harassed by this weird dude, and his wife(?)
trying to sell us pot from a pair of binoculars. We declined, while he stood next to us
blowing smoke at us!! I think that must have calmed us down! I really enjoyed the concert,
they were my favorite band, and it was appropriate that they were the first concert I have
seen as well! Two thumbs way up!
Metallica 1994... Oh man this was a good one!
This was My ALL time favorite concert! I went with Thad Knowles , my best friend, and
Terry Stevens. We also saw (by chance) Todd DeFay and Jennifer Jackson there. This concert
just rocked. Suicidal Tendencies and Candlebox opened, and they were great as well! It was
also general admission, so we got up front (Thad didn't want to, but I dragged him, and he
thanks me for that!!!) and prepared for the ride! The music started and the energy rose
full blast!!! My feet weren't even touching the ground, I was just kind of shuffled around
(like most general admission concerts) and moved where the crowd wanted to move me to!!!
This was the most energetic concert (besides the Offspring) that I have ever been to. I
was physically exhausted afterward. I always wondered why they never played there again...
This was the last general admission Metallica concert I have been to, unfortunately. But
this ranks as number 1 in my book!
Metallica 1997... Went with Thad Knowles, Kerri
Christensen, Brian Miller, Scott Hixon and Shawna Hixon. This was another great concert,
except for the fact we were not general admission, which put a damper on things. I like to
go crazy at concerts and with assigned seating ya just can't! I can't remember who opened
for them, so it must not have been great! But they played all my favorites and their
energy funneled into me, and all was good!!! Two thumbs up!
Metallica 1998... went with Thad Knowles and
Kerri Christensen ( I think...) This was a great concert, because it was kinda like
general admission, but it was very far from the stage, at the top part of the
amphitheatre. It was, however, the best Coral Sky concert I have gone to. They rocked, as
usual! We had lots of fun at this one!! Two thumbs up!!
Metallica 1999... went with Kerri Christensen,
Thad Knowles and Patrik Jonis. This was my least favorite Metallica concert. It was at the
orange bowl, which is an open aired stadium, and distorts the music if you're sitting to
the side (which we were) Kid Rock, Creed, and Sevendust opened. They were great as well.
We, unfortunately, sat right in front of some drunk guy that puked alot, and too bad for
him, he missed the entire concert! All in all, it was a good concert, but the sound was no
good and we were too far from the stage. ( I hate assigned seating) two thumbs up (because
it was Metallica)
Nine Inch Nails 1994... Went with Thad Knowles and
Gil, a friend from Key West. Marilyn Manson and Jim Rose Circus opened. This was a very
cool concert. I really liked it. It was very strange with real cool effects and lighting.
I've decided that Trent Reznor is a very strange man!!! LOL But he really puts on a great
show. This probably ranks as number 2 in my book. Type "O" Negative and
Corrosion of Conformity also opened. They were good too! I really liked the lights and the
show, I will go to another if they ever come this way again! Two thumbs way up!
The Offspring 1995... This concert kicked my
ass. I have never been so worn out and tired after a concert in my life. The younger
people that went to this concert have absolutely the most energy I have ever seen. I
thought it would never end. I went with Kerri Christensen, Brian Miller, Leslie Jonis,
Chad Miller and Denise Miller. I lost everyone in the crowd a few times. The guy in front
of us puked on the girl in front of him, which was humorously disgusting, but completely
hilarious. A very large circle formed around him, and he was oblivious to it, and kept
swaying/dancing. It was lots of fun though (general admission) when we got home, I think I
must have slept for 18 hours!!! Two thumbs up!!
Queensryche 1995... went with Leslie Jonis and
Thad Knowles. This was a great concert as well. It was more like a stage play, with things
happening and sets that the band played a part in. Very interesting, and something I have
never seen duplicated. The music was fantastic and very good sound quality, I will never
forget this concert! Two thumbs way up!
Slayer 1995... went with Thad Knowles and Brian
Miller. Biohazard and Machine Head opened, they were good! This was a very violent
concert. We saw quite a few bloody people get carried off from the mosh pit. The floor was
so violent with the mosh pit, we stood on the side after about an hour of enduring the
pain!!! We were all bruised and bleeding when we gave up! Slayer was very good, and very
fast... it's amazing how accurate they are with those fast powerchords playing live! I was
impressed. Two thumbs up!
Sting 2000... went with Judi. This was a good
concert, VERY laid back as well, which I'm not accustomed to. I thought he was really
good, and sounds exactly like he does on albums. He played some great songs and I was up
front this time(and the ONLY time at Coral Sky), and it was good. Two thumbs up!
White Zombie 1995... went with Thad Knowles.
This was a good General admission concert. I lost Thad within 2 minutes after they
started, didn't see him till after the show and he looked as exhausted as me after
battling the crowd(What fun!)! It was really hot in there, I remember. So hot, in fact,
that Rob Zombie kinda mentioned how "fucking" hot it was and just mumbled the
words to alot of the songs. Still, it was good and they sounded great! TONS of energy, and
I loved every minute of it! Two thumbs up!
White Zombie 1996.. went with Thad Knowles
and Chad Gagnon. Filter opened, and they were great! This one was not as good as the first
one for the sole reason it was not general admission. We couldn't get wild like we wanted
to. I think all concerts should be general admission, it makes a big difference in fan
appreciation. It was the same set up as the West Palm Beach show, but much cooler!! He
sang all the lyrics this time! I liked it but only one thumb up because of no general
admission!!
That's it for now! I know I will be adding to this list... I haven't been to any concerts lately, and I have to start going to more, don't ya think!
